Linda Khoury, Artistic Director
Co-Founder and current Artistic Director of the SCSC, Linda has studied and performed
at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She earned her MFA in Acting at the
University of South Carolina Department of Theatre, Speech and Dance and was awarded
a fellowship as a company member of The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC.
A successful actor and director, her numerous roles include Helena in A Midsummer
Night's Dream, Portia in The Merchant of Venice (both at RADA), Lady in Orpheus
Descending, Margaret in Much Ado About Nothing, Kate in Dancing at Lughnasa, Maria in
Twelfth Night, Kate in Taming of the Shrew, and Eleanora Duse in The Ladies of the
Camelias, as well as leading roles in Romeo and Juliet, The Merry Wives of Windsor,
and many non-classical roles.
Her directing credits include The Rover, Henry V, The Lion in Winter, A Midsummer
Night's Dream, The Tempest, Becket, Mousetrap, Macbeth, The Winter's Tale, and the
Company's successful series Love Out of Joint, a series of Shakespeare scenes that
have toured the state. An accomplished teacher, she has served on the faculty at USC
and Midland's Technical College. She is currently the head of the Drama Department
at Hammond School in Columbia.
In addition, Linda is on the Approved Artist's Roster at the South Carolina Arts
Commission, serves on the Board of the South Carolina Theatre Association, and is a member of the
Shakespeare Theatre Association of America as well as several other national professional
organizations. She has been commissioned as a Dramaturg and Text Consultant for
Shakespeare productions at Universities around the state of SC (currently at Coastal
Carolina University in Myrtle Beach). Professional affiliations include membership in
VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association), the Cultural Council of Richland and
Lexington Counties, and the SC Speech Communication Association.
