Join us this Fall

Join the SC Shakespeare Company and activate your IMAGINATION at our Fall series of acting classes. Four levels of classes will be offered, for 5th & 6th graders, 7th & 8th graders, high school, and our new adult acting classes. All classes are designed and to give beginning and experienced actors to explore improvisation, scene study, monologues, stage combat, acting for the camera, TV commercial and stage auditions. Taught by professional and experienced theatre artists from the company, we can promise a fun way to sharpen you creative skills and share the thrill of performance.

Class Descriptions

You receive 6 classes and a bonus 7th class for a Performance Showcase!

Acting: Contemporary
All students will be trained in the process of developing a character beginning with script analysis and voice and movement methods that will be applied to scene work, monologue and scene study, audition techniques, and acting for the camera.

Acting: Shakespeare
Student will be guided in understanding acting Shakespeare's works through text analysis and scene study. Experience will also include voice and movement methods that will be applied to scene work, monologue and scene study. Additional work may also be chosen for classical period dancing or stage combat (hand to hand and fencing),

Acting For the Camera / TV Commercials
All students will work together on producing a very naturalistic style ofacting for the camera through character development and acting techniques specific to film. The week will consist of scene work in front of the camera and creating a commercial to be used by the company.

Studio Instructors

Katie Mixon: Educational Director received Classical Acting Training from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Katie has been a lead actress in numerous SCSC productions, serves as staff instructor and choreographer, specializing in period dances. She has performed on stage at the Chapin, Nia, and Trustus Theatres as well as working on SCETV productions.

Bobby Bloom attended USC Aiken where he studied Stage Combat under Fight Director Robert Ek. He is a company member of both the South Carolina Shakespeare Company and Trustus Theater. Recently he has performed in the productions of Ragtime and Red withTrustus Theater and directed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) with SCSC.

Jeff Driggers grew up in Columbia, SC, where he spent his high school years making movies. He pursued this passion at the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Radio, TV and Film. Since graduating, he has launched and continues to run his own videography business while still writing and directing films. His other great love is the theatre where he has performed such roles as "Truffaldino" in the Servant of Two Masters, Complete Works of WIlliam Shakespeare Abridged, and "Dromio of Syracuse" in the Comedy of Errors for the SCSC.
